The website team wishes you and your little degus a very happy 2022! We hope to keep helping you learn about these animals, with content that makes clear, reliable information available to everyone.
Now that 2021 is over, it is time to look back at what the year brought to the website. Let’s start with a few numbers!
172,123: the total number of page views this year. We had hoped to reach 200,000, but that will have to wait until 2022; activity slowed towards the end of the year. Thank you to every reader, whether you visit regularly or occasionally. You make me want to keep going.
55,020: the total number of readers! You read an average of three articles per visit. An enormous thank you to you all.
374: the scientific studies currently being read or used to write our articles. The vast majority concern degus specifically, although some topics have led us to consult research on other animals too.
53: the number of articles published in 2021. Between the information articles and blog posts, that works out at about one article a week, which was our target. This year focused mainly on the foundations needed to understand degus. In 2022, we will turn to more specific subjects: diseases, coat colours, behavioural problems and so on, alongside updates on scientific developments.
47: the number of countries our readers came from. You visit from all around the world, helped by the availability of English versions, and we want to keep making the website accessible to a broad readership.
3: the website’s degus — Tipi, aged three, and Toupi and Tempi, both aged two. Three males with very strong personalities…
…and also the number of secret projects planned for 2022! We will tell you more soon. 😉
1: one final announcement — the permanent closure of Dingue des Todons. After more than ten years, it is time for a fresh start, with information that has been checked, reviewed and grounded in scientific evidence.
Thank you again. You keep this website alive — it is funded entirely from our own pockets — and give us the motivation to keep writing every day!
